Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Namaste Gimbal?
The Namaste Gimbal ecosystem is a high performance camera stabilizer for FPV drones. The vision for Namaste embraces flexibility, by supporting the plug and play and DIY communities while providing smooth and reliable results.
Why is a gimbal needed for FPV drones?
As the FPV drone industry has developed in the last decade, cameras have always been directly mounted to drones. The inability to separate camera motion from the drone motion inherently compromises camera framing and flight style options. The Namaste Gimbal is designed to create a new genre of shots adding to the unique capabilities of FPV drones.
Many professional FPV cinematographers have experienced a situation in which a production seeks a cheaper alternative to car, helicopter, and other custom camera rigs. Unfortunately, productions quickly discover the major creative limitations that come with a direct mounted camera. The Namaste Gimbal system was born out of the necessity to solve this issue and we will continue to push available technology until creativity is the only limitation for aerial shots.
Why Release a 2-Axis Gimbal?
In the many years of development leading up to the Namaste Gimbal release, both 2-axis and 3-axis gimbals were tested. While 3-axis gimbals provide greater dynamic capabilities, the mechanical complexity and burden of requiring two operators limits their application. Single operator setups reduce the barrier to entry for users while allowing Gohstand Designs to verify manufacturing techniques and quality control with fewer components. The Namaste Ecosystem is designed with 3-axis operation in mind, and we expect to release new products soon that will continue to expand the creative envelope.
